Attorney profile

Christopher “Toby” Norris

23 years of Florida practice. Founder of Norris Law. A regular in the Tallahassee courts since 2003.

Toby Norris built this practice on a straightforward premise: people in difficult legal situations deserve a lawyer who returns their calls, explains what is happening in language they can follow, and is genuinely prepared to go to court.

Education and early career

Toby graduated with honors from Florida State University in 2000, earning a Bachelor of Arts in History and membership in the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. He earned his law degree from the Florida State University College of Law in 2003.

He joined Bajoczky & Fournier in 2004, was named partner in 2009 when the firm became Bajoczky, Fournier & Norris, and was a founding partner of Fournier, Norris & Wagner in 2012. He opened Norris Law in 2016.

Courtroom experience

Toby has tried dozens of criminal cases before juries and has represented clients in courts across Florida, including the First District Court of Appeal and federal court.

That trial background shapes how he handles every case, including the ones that never see a courtroom. Settlement offers improve when the other side understands that the alternative is a lawyer who is ready and willing to try the case.

Family law

Family law is the center of the practice today. Toby handles all aspects of Florida family cases: divorce, child custody and time-sharing, paternity, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, modifications, and relocation.

These cases are different from criminal work in an important way: the people involved usually have to keep dealing with each other for years afterward, particularly when there are children. Good family lawyering means knowing when to fight hard and when a fight will cost a client more than it wins.

Other practice areas

The firm also handles personal injury matters, including car accidents, construction accidents, rideshare collisions, and premises liability, along with civil disputes for individuals and businesses, and probate matters including wills, health care directives, and powers of attorney.

Working with Toby

Norris Law is a small firm by design. When you hire this office, Toby is the lawyer handling your case, not an associate you meet at the courthouse. Clients consistently mention two things: that their calls get returned, and that complicated proceedings were explained in a way that made sense.
